Better Things is an American television series hosted by FX since September 8 , 2016 . The FX placed an order for 10 episodes on 7 August 2015. The series premiered on September 8, 2016. On September 20, 2016, the FX renewed the series for a second season , which debuted on September 14, 2017. In October 2017, the FX renewed the series for a third season.
The plot
In the center of the plot is not very successful actress Sam Fox, who alone raises three daughters in Los Angeles, plays in the series and does not lose optimism.

Development and production
FX ordered a pilot episode of the television series on January 18, 2015. The screenplay was written by Pamela Edlon and Louis C. Kay; The director was made by Louis C. Kay . The story is partly autobiographical and based on the life of Edlon . Ten episodes of the first season were ordered on August 7, 2015 .
The name of the show comes from the eponymous song of The Kinks .
In November 2017, after Louis C. Kay confirmed the allegations of sexual harassment , FX terminated the contract with him and his production company Pig Newton. Sea Key will not take part in the creation of future seasons of the show [13] [14] . In the same month, Edlon fired Dave Becky as her manager. Thus, Pig Newton and 3 Arts Entertainment are no longer relevant to the series and were removed from the credits of the last episodes of the second season .
